![]() Val-Zod, the Superman from Earth-2, was another Black character introduced in the comics. One alternate version was Calvin Ellis (Kalel), the Black President on Earth-23. In the comics, though, there have been several alternate versions of the iconic superhero from other Earths in the multiverse. Superman in the DC Comics has primarily been the secret identity of Clark Kent, an alien from Krypton, whose real name is Kal-El – a character that has primarily been presented as a Caucasian man from Kansas. National Book Award winner Ta-Nehisi Coates will be penning the reboot, with rumors suggesting that the Superman in question will be a character of color. It was announced that JJ Abrams, the man behind the Star Wars sequel trilogy and the Star Trek reboot films, will be producing the film and it is unknown whether DCEU and Man of Steel star Henry Cavill will be reprising his role. After months of speculation, we have official confirmation that a new Superman reboot is in the works.
